Accounts Assistant

Banking

  • Posting and allocation of cash receipts/payments from the bank statement, to the cashbook for the Group accounts, on a daily basis, and associated journals.
  • Bank reconciliations on a daily and monthly basis, for the Group accounts.
  • Weekly BACS payment run on a rota basis
  • Ad-hoc payments from all bank accounts.
  • Maintain directors current accounts

CIS

  • Processing of CIS sub-contractor certificates, with appropriate tax deductions
  • Monthly CIS reconciliations and HMRC returns

Other

  • Key user of the COINS system being implemented for Banks Homes Limited. This will include cross training of other team members, transfer and reconciliation of data between systems and system maintenance.
  • Deal with the processing and payment of expenses, credit cards, windfarm rent letters and rates.
  • Purchase ledger period end procedures, including reconciliation, on a team rotation basis.
  • Cover for sales/purchase ledger as required, including dealing with any queries that may arise.
  • Cover for petty cash as required
  • Cover for accounts emails and post as required
  • Production of P11D information as required
  • Maintain staff purchases as required
  • Development and maintenance of standard operating procedures
  • Deal with adhoc queries and requests
  • Processing of direct payment requests (ie where there is no invoice) via the purchasing system – focal point.

This role reports directly to the Group Financial Accountant and also works closely with other members of the finance team.

This role is based at the Banks Group head office in Meadowfield.

ESSENTIAL:

  • Previous experience in an accounts assistant role, preference with experience in housebuilding business
  • Previous treasury experience
  • To be able to work independently or as part of a team.

DESIRABLE:

  • To be conversant with the software packages used by the Accounts Team – Excel, Access Focal point, Access Dimensions and other packages as necessary. Experience with COINS system highly desirable.
  • Customer orientation, integrity and the ability to lead through influence.

  • Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail.
